About the Role

The Analyst will support the accounting, valuation, and operational requirements of the North American Private Fixed Income portfolios for Sun Life General Account and Third Party Investors. This role involves financial, statutory, regulatory, internal, and client reporting, aiming to develop efficient processes and enhance the internal control environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting and reporting of loan assets for institutional investors, including creating daily movement files with accrued interest calculations.
  • Producing fund trial balances on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Performing complex control checks such as trending loan prices, detailed valuation/trial balance analysis, and reconciliations to ensure accurate Net Asset Values.
  • Completing monthly/quarterly financial reporting and ad hoc requests.
  • Acting as Data Owner to flag and support investigation of multiple systems holding data.
  • Communicating with other functions across SLC groups to improve data elements.
  • Designing and creating Tableau Dashboards for monthly reporting and trending analysis, including key KPIs.

Requirements

  • Working towards CPA or CFA designation.
  • 1-2 years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Excel, including creating, manipulating, and interpreting data/spreadsheets.
  • Comfortable working with formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables.
  • General understanding of Fixed Income assets.
  • Flexibility to work 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • Understanding that certain days during the month/year may not be eligible for vacation days, specifically around month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
  • Willingness to perform operations functions during US & CAD holidays.
  • Successful candidates will be required to declare personal investment accounts and securities investments.
  • Successful candidates will be required to seek preclearance on future transactions, including those of household members.
