About the Role

As the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, you'll work closely with the leadership team to support daily golf course operations, maintain exceptional playing conditions, and help create an outstanding experience for members and guests.

Responsibilities

Assist the Superintendent in day to day operations of the facility.
Supervise, train, and work with seasonal staff to build a solid team environment.
Prepare and submit weekly employee schedules to ensure efficient use of employees.
Monitor the course for disease pressure, moisture issues (both dry and wet), turf decline, and other pests.
Make pesticide and fertilizer applications, calibrate equipment, properly document applications, keep an inventory, and take notes.
Perform irrigation scheduling, repair, and maintenance of a Toro irrigation system with Osmac controllers and Lynx operating system.
Properly hand-water turf.
Attend and participate in weekly department and other periodic employee and member meetings.
Conduct weekly facility walk through to ensure the facility is safe and presentable.
Operate within all guidelines, policies, standards and constraints as established by Hampton Golf.

Requirements

Working knowledge of golf course maintenance, including tees, fairways, and greens.
Proficiency in seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf.
Experience with planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees.
Knowledge of fertilizers, soil conditioners, herbicides, and pest control methods and materials.
Understanding of drainage control methods and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls.
Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work efficiently.
Skill in preparing clear and concise reports.
Ability to maintain effective employee and public relations.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
May require current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
Ability to perform moderate physical work, including lifting up to 80 lbs.
Ability to perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting, and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.
Adherence to safety precautions when using ladders.
Prohibition from climbing to heights exceeding 8 ft., entering facility attics, walking on roofs, or using scaffolding.
