Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and address repair needs for the hotel's physical infrastructure, including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, and backup systems.
- Perform complex repairs, troubleshoot problems, and coordinate with external contractors.
- Develop and implement a preventive diagnostic program for optimal equipment and system functioning.
- Inspect and service equipment, follow manufacturer guidelines, and maintain repair records.
- Make recommendations for equipment replacement when nearing end-of-life or becoming inefficient.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering to safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure proper functioning of fire protection and emergency systems.
- Collaborate with management, operations, and maintenance staff to address concerns and prioritize tasks.
- Supervise outside contractors and provide technical support.
- Foster a positive work environment and provide training to new staff.
- Maintain accurate records of diagnostic and repair activities, equipment inventory, and maintenance performed.
- Prepare reports on maintenance expenses, project updates, and equipment performance.
- Assist in budgeting processes by providing insights on engineering and maintenance needs.
- Utilize management repair tracking hardware and software and input required metrics.
- Proactively improve technical skills and stay updated with new technology through internal and external training resources.
- Work with leadership to develop Facilities Mechanic I team members.
- Perform routine inspections to identify potential issues such as structural damage, windows, and door problems.
- Repair broken or leaking plumbing, including demolition, reconstruction, and cleaning as required.
- Test and diagnose building heating equipment for repairs to maintain climate control.
- Operate relevant tools and machinery necessary to perform duties.
- Perform minor tasks commonly performed by another craft to complete major assignments.
- Perform cleanup and demolition required to commence and complete work assignments.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent degree required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in general maintenance/repair for a commercial facility required.
- Must be able to obtain a New York State Gaming License.
- General knowledge of equipment used in building trades.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Ability to understand and follow OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform repairs, use ladders, and perform various types of manual labor.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Visual acuity sufficient for reading, performing repairs, and painting.
- Weekends, Holidays, and swing shifts may be required.
