About the Role
Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.
Responsibilities
- Plan and promote the technical transfer of manufacturing processes, equipment, jigs, tools, and inspection processes established at overseas manufacturing sites.
- Lead the specification, development, introduction, and start-up of manufacturing equipment and jigs, and promote validation activities such as IQ/OQ/PQ.
- Identify product quality issues and promote quality improvement activities through root cause analysis.
- Participate in product design and equipment design reviews, and propose improvements for manufacturing, reliability, quality, and safety using mechanical engineering knowledge.
- Review mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, part drawings, and specifications to confirm compliance with manufacturing requirements, quality requirements, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote manufacturing process and equipment improvements utilizing knowledge of mechanical structures, machine elements, materials, processing methods, and tolerance design.
- Collaborate with related departments such as Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to lead problem-solving for production start-up and mass production stabilization.
- Promote problem-solving and best practice deployment related to processes, equipment, and quality through technical communication with overseas teams.
- Promote improvement projects to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets using Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement activities.
- Promote productivity improvement, yield improvement, defect reduction, and cost improvement through prototyping, production start-up, and process stabilization.
- Lead projects such as new equipment introduction, production capacity enhancement, and layout changes as the representative of Manufacturing Engineering.
- Ensure compliance with QMS requirements and national regulations, and promote process change management, risk assessment, quality documentation, and validation activities.
- Lead quality improvement, defect analysis, and recurrence prevention activities after production start-up to establish a stable mass production system.
Requirements
- Communication skills in Japanese and English.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
- Practical experience in production technology, manufacturing technology, equipment development, or mechanical design in the manufacturing industry.
- Ability to understand mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and part drawings, and conduct design reviews.
- Basic knowledge of machine elements (motors, bearings, screws, drive mechanisms, etc.).
- Knowledge of processing technology, assembly technology, tolerance design, and process design.
- Experience in introducing or improving manufacturing equipment and jigs/tools.
- Logical problem-solving ability and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional and global teams.
- High interest and motivation in medical devices, manufacturing, monozukuri (manufacturing), and technology.
