About the Role

As a Technical Owner (TO) of a crew, you will take technical responsibility for the development, operation, and continuous improvement of digital products and applications. Your focus will be on implementing modern mobile, web, and backend solutions that directly contribute to customer experience and business success. You will ensure that architecture, software quality, technical standards, and platform strategies permanently support business and product requirements and can scale sustainably. You will connect business goals, product requirements, and technical implementation. Together with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and engineers, you will develop solutions that are convincing from a customer perspective while being technically robust, performant, and maintainable.

Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the technical architecture and further development of the mobile apps, web applications, and backend services of your crew.
  • You define technical guardrails and ensure consistent implementation across the entire software lifecycle.
  • You make and represent technical decisions regarding architecture, scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
  • You translate business and product requirements into sustainable technical solutions and prioritize technical initiatives together with the Product Owner.
  • You support the crew in implementing complex requirements in modern app and cloud environments.
  • You work closely with Product Owners, UX/UI, business stakeholders, and other engineering teams, contributing the technical perspective to strategic decisions.
  • You promote Engineering Excellence through best practices, coding standards, automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development processes.
  • You ensure that mobile and web applications meet the highest quality standards regarding user experience, stability, security, and performance.
  • You identify technical risks early and initiate appropriate measures to ensure product quality and delivery capability.
  • You support the technical development of your colleagues through mentoring, sparring, and knowledge exchange.

Requirements

  • You possess a strong ownership mindset and take responsibility for the technical quality of the products.
  • You support others through technical expertise, coaching, and technical leadership.
  • You observe technological trends and can evaluate their sensible use for products and platforms.

Skills

  • Several years of experience in the development and operation of modern software solutions, ideally in the app, e-commerce, or platform environment.
  • Sound knowledge in the development of mobile apps (iOS and/or Android), web applications, and backend systems.
  • Very good understanding of scalable software architectures, API design, cloud platforms (ideally GCP), and modern deployment and operating models.
  • Experience with CI/CD, test automation, observability, and modern engineering practices.
  • Sound background in software engineering and the ability to holistically evaluate technical solution approaches.
  • Experience in the technical leadership of technical topics and in coaching developers.
  • Strong understanding of the connection between technology, user experience, business value, and product strategy.
  • Experience in the e-commerce, retail, or digital product environment is an advantage.
