About the Role
Shape and transform urban spaces, contribute to sustainable development, and create vibrant, liveable communities for future generations. This role focuses on embedding urban design requirements, design excellence, and place-based outcomes across Transport programs and projects, primarily within the Design Excellence team.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and support a team responsible for embedding urban design requirements, design excellence, and place-based outcomes across Transport programs and projects.
- Contribute to high quality, customer and community focused places and infrastructure aligned with government priorities.
- Collaborate across the branch, Transport cluster, and external partners.
- Contribute to the development of standards, guidelines, toolkits, and training materials.
- Assist with design excellence processes and Transport’s Place Performance Index.
- Prepare reports and presentations.
- Support coordination of external design advisors.
- Represent Urban Design in forums and workshops as required.
- Ensure urban design outcomes respond to local context, support active transport, enhance liveability, and deliver successful multi-modal transport environments.
Requirements
- Emerging or mid-level urban design professional with experience applying urban design principles in transport, public domain, or infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of contextual and place-based design.
- Comfortable contributing to design reviews, standards, and toolkits in practical project settings.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
- Ability to contribute to and support urban design outcomes that balance customer and community needs with operational and delivery requirements.
