About the Role
Shape and transform urban spaces, contribute to sustainable development, and create vibrant, liveable communities for future generations. Lead and manage the urban design program and project pipeline, embedding urban design requirements and design excellence across all activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the urban design program and project pipeline by overseeing prioritisation, resourcing, delivery monitoring and financial performance.
- Embed urban design requirements, design excellence and place based outcomes across strategy, policy, planning, development and delivery activities.
- Act as the Urban Design Lead on programs and projects of all scales.
- Collaborate across the branch, Transport cluster and external agencies to ensure consistent, high quality urban design outcomes.
- Guide external design advisors to meet Transport objectives.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of standards, guidelines, tools and training.
- Champion design innovation and excellence.
- Represent Urban Design in internal and external forums.
- Support the delivery of customer focused, community responsive and multimodal transport environments aligned with government priorities.
Requirements
- Accomplished urban design professional with extensive experience leading programs, coordinating business functions and shaping strategy in complex, multi stakeholder environments.
- Background in urban design, architecture or landscape architecture includes leading design requirements and development for complex, high profile infrastructure or public domain projects.
- Expert knowledge of urban design principles, frameworks and design excellence processes.
- Highly skilled at applying urban design principles across policy, planning, development and delivery contexts.
- Recognised for providing high level strategic and technical advice.
- Confidently manage competing stakeholder expectations and influencing outcomes at both project and program levels.
- Relevant infrastructure and/or public domain experience.
