About the Role

The Senior Export Coordinator plays a critical role in driving customer satisfaction, operational performance, and revenue growth by ensuring the seamless execution of Mohawk’s air and ocean export shipments. This role also serves as a reliable resource for leadership, assisting with SOP creation and onboarding new accounts. Through strong client, supplier, and partner collaboration, this role helps maintain service excellence across the full supply chain lifecycle. By applying advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, the Senior Export Coordinator proactively resolves shipment issues, minimizes disruptions, and supports efficient freight movement across air, land, and sea, thereby strengthening customer trust, service reliability, and Mohawk’s overall export operations performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex export shipments and key customer accounts while delivering exceptional service and responsiveness.
  • Provide proactive shipment communication, reporting, and visibility from pickup through final delivery.
  • Prepare competitive quotes, rates, and customer solutions that support growth and service excellence.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, carriers, agents, and partners to support retention and business development.
  • Independently coordinate air and ocean export shipments from initiation through final delivery.
  • Manage export documentation, routing instructions, shipment records, and CargoWise data integrity.
  • Execute specialized shipment requirements including dangerous goods, carnets, letters of credit, certificates of origin, TSA, screening, perishables, and other complex regulatory requirements.
  • Support onboarding, SOP development, process consistency, and operational best practices across assigned accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve shipment, billing, documentation, and service-related issues.
  • Proactively identify risks and implement solutions to minimize service disruptions.
  • Apply sound judgment to manage complex operational challenges and customer situations.
  • Escalate issues appropriately while maintaining ownership through resolution.
  • Partner with customers, carriers, agents, and internal teams to support successful shipment execution.
  • Assist Team Leads and Supervisors with onboarding, cross-training, and development of junior coordinators.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, coaching sessions, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Share knowledge, best practices, and operational expertise to strengthen team capability.
  • Prepare accurate billing, invoices, and shipment file documentation.
  • Ensure shipment records, customer data, and vendor information remain accurate and current.
  • Support billing integrity, accounts receivable follow-up, and operational reporting activities.
  • Contribute to profitability through accurate execution, cost awareness, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a senior operational resource and subject matter expert for export activities.
  • Support onboarding and development of less experienced coordinators through coaching and mentorship.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, and account-specific processes.
  • Demonstrate leadership through accountability, professionalism, and operational expertise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of export freight forwarding experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise across core export operations and shipment execution.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Ability to manage complex shipments and customer requirements independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of air and ocean export operations, documentation, and freight forwarding processes.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise and freight forwarding systems.
  • Experience with specialized shipment types including dangerous goods, carnets, TSA requirements, screenings, and other regulatory programs.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Knowledge of international logistics, supply chain operations, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
