About the Role
Advance privacy at Sinai Health by supporting the institution-wide Privacy program and digital transformation strategy. This role is integral to the Privacy and Information Access Office, working with integrated teams to foster a culture of privacy.
Responsibilities
- Support digital transformation by conducting privacy impact assessments (PIAs), privacy reviews, and providing guidance.
- Support the development and operationalization of privacy practices within the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute.
- Act as the Privacy Office’s first point of contact for privacy inquiries, complaints, and concerns.
- Process and manage patient privacy requests, including corrections, consent directives, and consent override investigations.
- Develop and amend policies and guidelines related to privacy matters.
- Conduct privacy incident investigations.
- Develop and manage internal privacy training, and promote privacy awareness.
- Assist in processing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
- Perform regular privacy audits.
- Keep abreast of changing requirements and trends in privacy and information access.
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an Undergraduate Degree in a related health discipline or equivalent work experience.
- 2 years of experience in privacy, preferably in a hospital environment.
- Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) Designation (Preferred).
- Experience with Cerner and/or Meditech (Preferred).
- Experience with conducting PIAs / privacy reviews (Preferred).
- Experience with Epic (Preferred).
- Experience with conducting or supporting research within an academic research hospital, university, on a research ethics board, or equivalent (Preferred).
Skills
- Knowledge of PHIPA and FIPPA.
- Ability to apply applicable law and legal/regulatory decisions and IPC guidelines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with proven sensitivity, patience, discretion, tact, and good judgment.
- Excellent presentation and training skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to respond to numerous demands, prioritize work, and manage stakeholder expectations.
