About the Role

This strategic role involves shaping major transport infrastructure opportunities from their earliest stages, providing commercial and contractual expertise to manage risk and create long-term value. You will influence decision-making, solve complex commercial challenges, and negotiate successful outcomes for winning and delivering major projects across Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with bid and project teams to develop commercially robust and competitive tender submissions.
  • Identify, assess and communicate contractual and commercial risks, supporting effective mitigation strategies and informed decision-making.
  • Work closely with legal, operational and technical stakeholders to review contract terms and negotiate commercial outcomes.
  • Lead the preparation of commercial responses for major Expressions of Interest (EOIs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and tender submissions.
  • Support successful negotiations with clients, joint venture partners, and key suppliers during the pre-contract phase.
  • Contribute to the development of commercial strategies that enhance project outcomes and support business growth.
  • Coordinate commercial aspects of joint venture and consortium arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with UGL Transport governance requirements while balancing commercial opportunity and risk management.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to support strategic pursuits and major project opportunities.
  • Foster strong relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
  • Represent UGL Transport professionally within industry networks and client forums.

Requirements

  • Qualifications in Engineering, Commerce, Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in commercial management within major infrastructure, transport, engineering, construction, defence, utilities, or other complex project environments.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, commercial risk management, tendering, and procurement processes.
  • Experience working with complex contract models including Design & Construct (D&C), EPC, Alliance or comparable frameworks.
  • The ability to analyse issues, develop practical commercial solutions, and communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience gained in rail, transport, defence, aviation, resources, utilities, or other safety-critical industries will be highly regarded.
