Responsibilities

  • Work with New Product Development teams to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and communicate expectations to suppliers.
  • Participate with New Product Introduction teams to ensure supplier involvement in specification development and review for design for manufacturability.
  • Engage in the Supplier Selection Process to develop a supply base providing competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery, and technology.
  • Perform supplier technical audits, evaluate supplier performance and capability, and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Resolve quality problems and manage incidents, driving root cause and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate technical requirements of new and existing products, recommending materials to Design Engineering for savings, lead time reductions, system improvements, increased life, or mitigated risk.
  • Assist in cost planning by monitoring key cost drivers and supply markets.
  • Support product development and improvement teams by sourcing new technologies from qualified suppliers.
  • Present NPI project and supplier engagement updates to business units and supplier quality organization management.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Experience with semiconductor capital equipment industry and suppliers providing build-to-print (BTP) components and contract manufactured assemblies and modules (assembly and test).
  • Expertise in working with product development engineers (mechanical, electrical) to identify best-fit supply chain and DFM improvements.
  • Prefer experience with manufacturing of machined, sheet metal, cable/harness, and electro-mechanical assembly commodities.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies.
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.
  • Able to build partnerships with suppliers and Applied Materials product development teams, seen as a key contributor and problem solver.

  • $96,000.00 - $132,000.00
