This role is critical for life-safety equipment, serving as the subject matter expert for the suite and driving its discovery, strategy, and P&L.

Responsibilities

  • Own the E-Lights release process end to end, including documented hardware and firmware requirements, release criteria, and stakeholder sign-off.
  • Drive the product's certification and compliance posture, owning the UL 924 certification package and reflecting NFPA 101 and NFPA 70 requirements.
  • Own the testing story, including monthly functional tests, annual duration tests, illuminance verification, and SOPs for automated compliance records.
  • Translate customer feedback into defined PRDs for engineering and stay involved in the development process.
  • Build and run a systematic customer feedback practice, including needfinding, interviews, and a customer advisory board.
  • Run pilots and demos against a defined SOP with clear success criteria and drive them to formal sign-off.
  • Own the post-ship customer experience, including install quality, product health, compliance reporting, and issue triage.
  • Serve as the SME for the suite, covering payloads, certification, materials, documentation, and technical specifications.
  • Deeply understand primary and tangential customers to represent their needs in decision-making.
  • Own the product roadmap, ensuring visibility and clear communication of priorities.
  • Run structured product syncs and ensure information transfer.
  • Work in an agile model while navigating hardware development constraints.
  • Grow into ownership of the product's P&L, including unit economics, margin improvement, and market evaluation.
  • Build pitches for the Sales team.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of product management experience, specifically with hardware & IoT or connected devices.
  • Prior hardware start-up experience required at a Series A/B/C hardware or IoT company.
  • Owned a product that has shipped at scale (thousands of devices).
  • Demonstrated judgment under pressure, making and defending decisions based on evidence and strategy.
  • Experience owning a product governed by a prescriptive code or standard with an enforcement body.
  • Genuine technical fluency, comfortable discussing firmware, device configurations, and hardware specifications.
  • Hands-on data skills and AI fluency, including pulling numbers, building dashboards, and using BI tools, Git, and AI assistants.
  • Strong customer discovery instincts, including running needfinding interviews and synthesizing feedback.
  • Proven ability to design clear processes while remaining agile.
  • Exceptional written communication skills for PRDs, documentation, and meeting notes.
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills.
