About the Role
The Counselor is responsible for delivering and implementing long-term supervision, support, and clinical services to chemically dependent adolescents with co-occurring mental health problems.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing screening of residents and resident property.
- Supervise clients in self-medication.
- Complete assessments, intakes, and participate in level of care determination.
- Facilitate admissions and referrals to other programs or agencies.
- Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling services.
- Manage all aspects of assigned caseload during treatment.
- Complete all necessary documentation and reports in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with referents and collateral contacts.
- Maintain communication and teamwork with clinical staff.
- Communicate pertinent information, incidents, and emergencies.
- Provide overall supervision and management of the client population in the facilitation of the daily house schedule.
- Facilitate service groups.
- Conduct toxicology testing as needed.
- Exercise due diligence in the delivery of quality care in line with the agency Medicaid Compliance Plan.
- Ensure communication of any violation of non-compliance with the agency’s Medicaid compliance plan and personnel policy and procedure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders.
- 1 year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems.
- 1 year of experience working in an OASAS funded facility is a plus.
