About the Role

Modern Family Law is a national family law firm seeking a Family Law Paralegal for its Austin, TX office. This role involves direct work with attorneys on divorce, child custody, property division, and support matters, offering a hands-on caseload and significant client interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a caseload of family law matters from hire through resolution, working alongside multiple attorneys.
  • Draft and prepare filings such as Petitions, Summons, Case Information Sheets, Notices and Entries of Appearance, and Notices of Withdrawal and Motions to Withdraw.
  • E-file documents with county court systems and track case status through system portals.
  • Manage deadlines, including calendars, filing dates, and court requirements.
  • Communicate with clients, answer questions, and provide follow-ups.
  • Maintain organized and accurate case files.
  • Collaborate with attorneys as a colleague, proactively communicating case status and upcoming needs.

Requirements

  • Family law experience required.
  • Ability to draft cleanly.
  • Ability to hold a deadline.
  • Ability to communicate with upset clients.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in e-filing with all major county court systems.
  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a law firm setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to capture all billable work accurately, contemporaneously, efficiently, and ethically using clear, client-appropriate narratives.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Composure to stay organized when multiple matters require attention simultaneously.
  • Collaborative instinct.
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly.
  • Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered.
