About the Role
Advance the development pipeline through the acquisition of new project opportunities and the advancement of existing projects. Lead a team, model a culture of ownership and accountability, and provide internal expertise on regulatory and policy dynamics. Identify development prospects, manage a team of subject matter experts, and guide projects from initial identification to Notice to Proceed (NTP). Cultivate a high-functioning team, provide mentorship, and collaborate with FP&A and finance teams on project plans, budgets, schedules, and financial metrics. Lead complex negotiations and address process gaps.
Responsibilities
- Advance development pipeline through acquisition of new project opportunities
- Advance existing project pipeline
- Lead a team of early-career and mid-career professionals
- Model and reinforce a culture of ownership and accountability
- Provide internal expertise on regulatory and policy dynamics and changes
- Ensure engagement with regional trade groups, consultants, and advisors
- Identify development prospects
- Advance project development activities
- Manage a team of internal and external subject matter experts
- Guide projects from earliest stages of identification to Notice to Proceed (NTP)
- Cultivate and retain a high-functioning team
- Provide mentorship to direct reports
- Collaborate with FP&A team to ensure portfolio and project plans are created and maintained
- Report on project budgets, schedules, and financial metrics
- Lead complex negotiations with external stakeholders
- Collaborate with the finance team to work through financial model inputs
- Ensure accuracy in project and market-level data
- Address process and procedure gaps
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive experience in project development and project management within renewable energy
- Experience leading a utility-scale project through Commercial Operations Date (COD) preferred
- Commercial understanding and financial acumen
- Strong ability to speak to and manage portfolio based on economic drivers or projects
- Strong understanding of US Power Markets
- Development experience in MISO, ERCOT and SPP strongly preferred
- Proven ability to successfully lead negotiations with external stakeholders and maintain relationships
- Experienced in managing competing priorities, delegating workload, and delivering on project schedules
- Ability to travel domestically as needed
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
