About the Role

Amex Digital Labs is building the future of payments and membership by leveraging emerging technologies to create innovations that enhance customer experiences. This role will lead product strategy and platform development for Agentic Commerce, focusing on enabling seamless, secure agent-driven transactions and defining the necessary experiences, platform capabilities, and trust frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver foundational capabilities that enable secure, scalable agentic commerce across the payments ecosystem.
  • Align product strategy, requirements, and roadmaps across issuer and network perspectives.
  • Monitor industry trends, balancing near-term execution with long-term strategy.
  • Collaborate on the development of capabilities related to authentication, authorization, tokenization, spend controls, identity, merchant enablement, and trust infrastructure.
  • Drive alignment on long-term platform architecture, operating models, and ecosystem strategy.
  • Partner with engineering teams to understand and develop perspectives on applying evolving technologies for AI agent-facilitated payments.
  • Balance the needs of customers, stakeholders, and partners while working with engineering to deliver platform capabilities.
  • Define data flows across merchants, PSPs, and AI/LLM partners to support fraud, servicing, and Card Member experiences.
  • Evaluate, influence, and operationalize partner requirements with Business Development teams.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies with Product Enablement teams.
  • Define strategies for fraud prevention, dispute management, and call or chat handling related to agentic transactions.
  • Develop and adhere to governance principles and payments regulations with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in product management/development, or similar role.
  • Enthusiasm for exceptional products and services, deep customer empathy, keen product intuition, and skilled at articulation of product functionality.
  • Curiosity and a hunger to understand how things work, with the ability to make connections, identify opportunities, and push the innovation agenda.
  • Highly organized self-starter with strong ownership mentality and business track record.
  • Understanding of tech and product development processes, with the ability to communicate with and influence both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Ability to reconcile competing needs across customers, stakeholders, and partners, making effective decisions and gaining buy-in.
  • Proven partner to engineering and comfortable discussing technical trade-offs.
  • Detail-oriented, able to identify key questions, and assess how pieces of the puzzle interact and affect the overall product.
  • Ability to recognize issues quickly and determine how to get a resolution through creative and efficient problem solving.
  • Skilled at balancing big picture strategy and tactical details.
  • Team player, comfortable with ambiguity, adaptable, accountable, and highly organized.
  • Excellent communication skills across cross-functional teams with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners to drive collaboration and alignment.
  • Willingness to be creative within the bounds of the highly regulated financial services environment.
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
