About the Role

The New York Times Company is seeking an experienced security leader to manage a unified global corporate security operation. This role involves leading a team, collaborating with senior executives, and enhancing the company's physical security architecture to support business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a global security operations architecture, scaling operations across multiple international locations.
  • Establish and maintain global governance frameworks for corporate security standards.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, globally distributed security team, fostering a culture of professionalism and innovation.
  • Manage daily operations, including scheduling, incident reporting, and implementing organizational change.
  • Evaluate team job performance and provide guidance for improvement.
  • Address team concerns and feedback promptly, maintaining an open and growth-oriented relationship.
  • Serve as deputy to the Executive Director, Corporate Security, for operational tasks and strategic objective implementation.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate physical security threats in collaboration with other teams.
  • Identify and implement security solutions and technologies to advance security culture.
  • Enforce security standards for employees, contractors, tenants, and visitors.
  • Represent security leadership in meetings and to stakeholders.
  • Perform the work of direct reports or the Executive Director in exceptional circumstances.
  • Demonstrate support for journalistic independence and the company's mission.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of experience in physical security and leadership.
  • Experience scaling security operations in a global organization towards a proactive, intelligence-led, technology-driven architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff, and holding teams accountable.
  • Skill in managing conflict and responding to problems consistent with procedures and company culture.
  • Demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships and influencing across teams and levels.
  • Experience with security technology systems, including access control, visitor management, video monitoring, and AI/detection technologies.
  • Crisis management and emergency response planning experience.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks.
