About the Role

The Intern will gain hands-on experience working closely with experienced industry counseling professionals in our Outreach Outpatient program. The role involves learning the delivery and implementation of long-term supervision, support, and clinical services to clients with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments, intakes, and participate in level of care determinations.
  • Complete administrative procedures for admission and assist in treatment plan development.
  • Facilitate admissions or referrals to other programs or agencies.
  • Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling services.
  • Manage assigned caseload, ensuring appropriate levels of care and interventions.
  • Provide backup coverage for clinical staff absences and complete documentation.
  • Inform leadership of any problems or inability to meet deadlines.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and unit meetings.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with referents and collateral contacts.
  • Maintain communication and teamwork with clinical staff.
  • Conduct toxicology testing as needed.
  • Oversee and/or coordinate care with managed care organizations.
  • Demonstrate initiative in task completion and manage workload efficiently.
  • Address program issues with the Program Coordinator.
  • Participate in and support agency quality improvement programs.
  • Identify, plan, and implement appropriate activities under the direction of the Program Coordinator.
  • Exercise due diligence in the delivery of quality care in line with the agency Medicaid Compliance Plan.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in human services, behavioral health social work, mental health, or a related field.
