About the Role

The Overnight Counselor is responsible for overseeing the health and welfare of all residents in the program, providing support and clinical services to clients with co-occurring and mental health problems. This role is a key part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities

  • File all paperwork on a nightly basis.
  • Perform closing runs and document findings via the appropriate reporting systems.
  • Screen residents and their belongings returning from passes, medical, and court appointments.
  • Conduct health and welfare checks and perform runs according to unit policy.
  • Supervise clients in self-medication under supervision.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision.
  • Communicate all pertinent information for incidents and emergencies.
  • Perform crisis interventions and follow up with incident, accident, and/or elopement reports.
  • Create new resident clinical charts and maintain inactive charts.
  • Obtain urine samples for toxicology testing as directed.
  • Participate in special family events.
  • Oversee and manage the client population in facilitating the daily house schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders.
  • 1 year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems.
