About the Role

This role sits on the Demand Generation team, focusing on SEO and GEO (generative engine optimization) to ensure MaintainX is visible and well-represented in buyer searches, including those using AI tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews.

Responsibilities

Turn SEO and GEO strategy into shipped work to ensure MaintainX appears in relevant buyer searches.
Manage content refreshes and gap pieces from brief to QA to publish, aiming to recover and maintain rankings and AI citations for priority pages.
Review backlink and offsite citation prospects to ensure all earned links are high quality.
Support technical SEO and keyword research, identifying issues and opportunities to prevent traffic loss.
Act as the day-to-day contact for web, design, content, and product teams, as well as external vendors, translating requests into actionable steps and ensuring completion.
Design and execute experiments with the Senior SEO/GEO Specialist to understand factors influencing visibility in LLMs and document findings.
Educate partners on the importance of SEO changes to gain their buy-in.
Within 6 to 12 months, own execution on core team projects, independently handle ad hoc requests, and propose personal experiments.

Requirements

1 to 2 years of experience in SEO, including roles or strong internships.
Hands-on experience with keyword research and rank tracking using tools like Semrush or Ahrefs.
Understanding of how search is evolving, including how LLMs surface and cite sources.
Experience with tests run or contributed to, including lessons learned (GEO side projects are applicable).
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues and gain their support.
Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and ensure follow-through.
Comfort making decisions in ambiguous situations, as is common in search.
