About the Role
The National CAT Team Supervisor is responsible for leading the development, training, and daily operations of the National Catastrophe (CAT) Response Team to ensure optimal response to catastrophic events and maintain excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Organize responses to catastrophic (CAT) events.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with the National CAT team and branch operations.
- Support the CAT team by providing technical and operational assistance.
- Ensure the productivity and quality of work of claims adjusters.
- Conduct compliance reviews to ensure adherence to claims department processes and procedures.
- Participate in the selection and recruitment of new candidates for the National CAT team.
- Develop and maintain a training program for the CAT team, including ensuring compliance with provincial health and safety requirements.
- Coordinate field and office work assignments for team members.
- Review and approve reserves and payments exceeding the authority limits of CAT team members.
- Gather and analyze information from post-catastrophe assessment forms and apply lessons learned to continuously improve the CAT team.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of property repair procedures and materials, as well as industry trends and developments.
- Effectively supervise a remote team.
- Travel as needed to catastrophic event sites and team locations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Over five (5) years of experience in home claims settlement, including experience as a CAT adjuster or leading a CAT team.
- College or university degree in business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or working towards it, an asset.
- Excellent knowledge and experience with XactAnalysis and Xactimate.
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Solid knowledge of provincial health and safety regulations applicable to CAT adjusters.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify relationships, issues, and problems.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set and revise priorities effectively.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to foster collaboration.
- Knowledge of ClaimCenter, a significant asset.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to travel throughout Canada and the United States.
