About the Role
The housekeeper cleans the facility as per the daily schedule, using and maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies related to the job.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and sanitizes all areas of the facility according to the daily schedule including rest rooms, locker rooms, kitchen/lounges, and sauna/steam room.
- Uses cleaning equipment and janitorial supplies correctly and reports problems to the supervisor.
- Follows facility protocol to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
- Dry/wet mops hard floors and vacuums carpets.
- Washes windows and dusts surfaces.
- Empties trash and recycling containers.
- Completes facility maintenance logs as directed.
- Responds quickly to clean spills and resolves unsafe conditions promptly.
- Follows YMCA and OSHA safety standards, including Hazard Communications, and wears required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintains the cleanliness of the grounds, clears walkways, and removes garbage.
- Carries out other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of experience in housekeeping and/or custodial work.
- Working knowledge of the tools and equipment used to clean and sanitize.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Commitment to providing exceptional service and promoting the YMCA’s mission and values.
