About the Role

Under the direction of the Production Manager, this role provides leadership to the afternoon/night Production Departments to achieve established Key Performance Goals. The position may transition to days based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing operation on non-day shifts, meeting safety, quality, efficiency, yield, cost, and schedule attainment standards.
  • Collaborate with HR and Production Manager to recruit and retain personnel.
  • Coordinate and support training activities and staff development.
  • Support Plant Manager/Production Manager in achieving site KPIs and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with corresponding departments to achieve company objectives.
  • Improve safety culture and increase employee engagement in hazard identification and resolution.
  • Organize and review processes for continuous improvement (safety, cost, quality, delivery).
  • Responsible for Food Safety on assigned shifts and support HACCP Plan responsibilities.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including performance appraisals and IDP implementation.
  • Maintain employee work schedules, including timecard approval, assignments, and leave.
  • May coordinate and direct sanitation personnel in the absence of the Sanitation Manager.
  • Develop and execute a productivity funnel of projects and executable plans.
  • Report food safety and quality problems to appropriate personnel.

Requirements

  • Associates degree preferred and/or 3-5 years' experience supervising hourly personnel in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry and/or high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing to a budget and department cost control.
  • Previous experience with Oracle or a similar ERP Business module.
  • Ability to work off shifts (afternoons/nights) continuously.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk the manufacturing floor.
  • Occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, with a potential of up to 25 pounds.
  • Constant exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring PPE use.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.
