About the Role
The Regional Director serves as the primary link between Goodwill's strategy, mission, and vision and their assigned region. This role ensures operational excellence, achieves financial goals, and builds strong teams. The Regional Director is responsible for motivating and directing General Managers of 8-12 stores, overseeing all aspects of retail operations, protecting the brand, and extending organizational culture and values throughout their area of influence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies, action plans, staffing, and procedures to optimize donation processing and maximize sales.
- Deliver key performance indicators at assigned stores, including customer service, production, controllable contributions, store sales, ecommerce sales, and retention.
- Coach and develop store leaders through effective mentoring.
- Drive employee morale through rewards and recognition.
- Inspire the team and hold them accountable for store operations, scheduling, visual presentation, and inventory levels to meet retail sales goals.
- Ensure a safe, accident-free environment and maintain compliance with established procedures.
- Develop a safety culture through awareness, training, and reporting of hazards and accidents.
- Develop a talent bench within the respective district.
- Build effective working partnerships with support departments such as Human Resources, Loss Prevention, and Finance.
- Analyze reports, conduct site visits, and review customer/donor feedback to develop sales plans.
- Collaborate with senior leaders on strategic planning and annual budget development.
- Monitor all expenses to ensure adherence to the allocated budget.
- Ensure proper merchandising and organization by adhering to all merchandising standards.
- Assist in creating and delegating standard operating procedures for the retail/donation environment.
- Ensure production disciplines and productivity expectations are met to maximize revenue.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to establish standards for organization and visual appearance, design store layout, and maintain inventory, fixtures, and displays.
- Serve as the main point of contact for customer service issues in the region and respond promptly to inquiries.
- Establish community networks and develop relationships to increase awareness and drive donations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least five years of multi-unit retail management experience with full profit and loss responsibility.
- Self-starter who is highly engaged, organized, goal-focused, and strategic in planning priorities.
- Understanding of both front and back of house operations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, liability insurance, and a vehicle in good working condition for work-related travel.
- Expected to physically visit stores 3-5 days a week, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other computer software (Internet, POS Systems, etc.).
- Demonstrated success in developing successful top performers, store leaders, and teams.
- Excellent customer service and employee relations skills.
- Ability to work with staff at all levels.
- Ability to adapt to change and assume added responsibilities.
- At least two years of experience developing and managing budgets.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
