About the Role
Grace Church School seeks a College Counselor for a leave replacement position, supporting students through the college application process. This role is primarily student-facing and requires significant experience working one-on-one with high school students.
Responsibilities
- Support seniors and juniors through their college application processes and ensure they stay on track.
- Provide individual support to seniors with final applications, deferrals, waitlists, financial aid, and enrollment decisions.
- Offer individual guidance to juniors researching colleges and developing balanced college lists.
- Communicate student progress, needs, and questions effectively with the Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director.
- Communicate effectively with students and families as needed.
- Guide students through the need-based financial aid application and appeal process.
- Maintain clear and accurate student and application records for data tracking and continuity.
- Participate in scheduled evening and/or weekend programming.
- Co-teach weekly classes for juniors and seniors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- At least two years of experience in college counseling or college admissions.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with all stakeholders.
- Highly ethical, confident, and flexible with excellent judgment and a sense of humor.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Experience working successfully with high school students and diverse families.
- Demonstrated commitment to DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging) work.
- Ability to submit a resume and cover letter through the school website.
