About the Role
The Legal Fellow will support a range of projects within the Legal Team, gaining exposure to diverse legal and strategic issues in a philanthropic organization. This role focuses on litigation strategy, legal research, regulatory inquiries, risk assessment, and crisis response, contributing to the Foundation's mission.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefing materials, and strategic analyses.
- Support the development and evaluation of litigation and legal strategies.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the Foundation's mission and operations.
- Assist with the assessment and management of litigation, disputes, regulatory inquiries, and investigations.
- Support crisis response efforts by providing legal analysis and strategic guidance.
- Build relationships and facilitate collaborations with Foundation staff.
- Exercise independent judgment on complex legal matters and contribute to legal decision-making.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- A J.D. and at least 3+ years of legal experience.
- Solutions-oriented, agile thinker capable of presenting alternative approaches.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Experience with impact litigation, strategic litigation, or public-interest litigation.
- Excellent judgment, including the ability to provide clear advice on sensitive matters and in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff at all levels.
- Analytical thinker with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple complex tasks effectively and efficiently with attention to detail and commitment to deadlines.
- Impeccable integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the organization is optimal.
