About the Role
The Director and Human Resource Business Partner will provide consultative and strategic support to executive-level business leaders, aligning people solutions with company vision and strategies. This role reports to an Assistant Vice President or Vice President and works directly with senior executives, servicing complex client groups requiring senior-level HR support.
Responsibilities
- Provide HR advice and coaching to assigned client groups and business leaders on HR policy, workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, compensation, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction, ensuring coordinated HR service delivery to clients.
- Elevate people leadership capabilities by advising and coaching senior leaders on people and talent matters.
- Counsel and support senior leaders on work and employee engagement issues.
- Partner with employee relations on escalations and engage with experts for complex issue resolution.
- Identify and address people-related issues and themes through recommendations and mitigation strategies.
- Lead annual HR processes for supported client groups, including talent management, performance management, compensation, and engagement action planning.
- Participate in and lead project teams to develop and implement HR projects in partnership with HR Centers of Expertise.
- Participate in cross-line business HR committees and councils to share best practices and collaborate on initiatives.
- Create and implement talent plans, including organizational health diagnostics, recruitment, retention, development strategies, and organizational effectiveness.
- Act as a secondary HR contact for business leaders to ensure senior HR leader availability.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as an HR business partner.
- Experience supporting Great West Corporate functions is an asset.
- Post Secondary degree / CHRP is an asset.
- Perceived as a trusted and credible advisor to Executives and Senior HR colleagues.
- Proactively identify people-related issues and opportunities and provide targeted HR solutions.
- Impeccable drive to implement HR strategies and programs and drive projects forward.
- Driven to grow talent and improve organizational capabilities.
- Experience providing people leadership to Senior HR Advisors and Global HR team members.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with creativity and focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong business acumen, understanding business strategies, external environment, and talent implications.
- Highly proficient in employee relations and conflict resolution.
- Proficient across a breadth of HR disciplines and expertise, with the ability to apply knowledge to specific needs.
- Strong project and change management experience.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and impact and influencing skills.
