About the Role
The Editor-in-Chief (EIC) will define a clear and compelling vision for the look, feel, and voice of our portfolio of products, including print, digital, tablet, and mobile platforms. This role requires driving staff adaptation to new mediums and platforms, leading the reporting staff proactively, and growing print, digital, and event audiences.
Responsibilities
- Create content and product vision.
- Define the vision for print newspaper, daily emails, website, tablet, and mobile.
- Drive staff adaptation to new mediums, platforms, skill sets, and story forms.
- Guide the business journal operation into new markets and opportunities.
- Develop and lead the reporting staff with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Grow print, digital, and event audiences through direct engagement.
- Ensure the vitality of print through thoughtful packaging and long-form journalism.
- Seek out content syndication channels and partnerships.
- Serve as the primary newsroom conduit between the local market and corporate.
- Meet or exceed goals for audience engagement metrics.
- Regularly participate in and attend Business Journal sponsored events.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues and professionally with sources.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-7 years of management and/or team leadership experience.
- Daily, and preferably, weekly print experience for a business news operation.
- Experience working in an online news environment.
- Beat reporter experience.
- Must be comfortable and thrive in a rapidly changing and uncharted media environment.
