About the Role
EAC Network is seeking passionate individuals with lived experience in recovery to join our CLEAR Program in Brooklyn, NY, as Peer Recovery Coaches. This role involves providing support, fostering positive relationships, and connecting participants to community services.
Responsibilities
- Respond to precincts throughout Brooklyn to discuss the program and its benefits with prospective participants.
- Identify and facilitate emergency resources for participants.
- Encourage participants to meet with the program Case Manager and follow up on referrals to community-based support and ancillary services.
- Meet with clients on an as-needed basis, both on and off-site, and be available via email and cell phone for support.
- Provide Naloxone kits and training to participants as needed.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Participate in regularly scheduled ongoing trainings and supervision.
- Maintain and update client charts and notes after each client interaction.
- Engage in community outreach and liaise with criminal justice agencies, including court staff, police, and parole/probation officers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or educational equivalent required.
- Certified Peer Recovery Coach Certification (CRPA) or training preferred.
- OASAS/OMH Peer Specialist Certification or peer specialist training (e.g., Howie the Harp) preferred.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work cooperatively with multiple agencies.
- Knowledge of the target population and borough resources.
- Willingness to travel throughout Brooklyn.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, calendar, email, and/or database software.
