About the Role

Upstate Niagara Cooperative, a dairy cooperative owned by local family farms, seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and systems. This role supports sustainable farming and the delivery of fresh, local dairy products.

Responsibilities

  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses variations with operators and supervisors to diagnose and repair issues.
  • Shuts down and locks out energy sources before starting repairs, installs new or repaired parts, and tests for proper operation.
  • Cleans and lubricates machinery parts according to company procedures.
  • Installs and repairs electrical wiring and components on machinery and equipment.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains pipe systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and related components.
  • Repairs and maintains the physical condition of the facility, including fabricating or repairing structures.
  • Installs, programs, and repairs automated machinery and equipment, including programmable controllers and refrigeration systems.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to join metal parts.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to fill out routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively and convey information to other employees.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

  • Total potential earnings up to $42.53/hr.
  • Up to $11/hour in skill-based incentives for qualifying certifications and licenses.
