About the Role
The Pharmacy Technician assists and supports pharmacists in daily operations, including ordering and stocking medications, preparing medications under supervision, and coordinating medication distribution. This role utilizes various technologies and reports to pharmacists and supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists by performing routine duties that do not require professional judgment.
- Maintain patient profiles and other records.
- Handle intra- and inter- departmental requisitions.
- Handle stock receipt/storage/control.
- Package and label medications.
- Assist in preparation of medications.
- Deliver medications.
- Clean and maintain Pharmacy environment and equipment.
- Operate drug dispensing, packaging and preparation machinery/equipment.
- Answer and appropriately handle telephone calls to pharmacy.
- Complete appropriate documentation.
- Work with computer-based applications.
- Train and orient staff.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in PHARMACY school, (ACPE) Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Work schedule and activities are determined by pharmacists, Pharmacy Supervisors and Directors.
- Access to information is based on a “need to know” and is the minimum necessary to properly perform assigned duties.
- Use or disclosure shall not exceed the minimum amount of information needed to accomplish an intended purpose.
- Reasonable efforts, consistent with Albany Med Health System policies and standards, shall be made to ensure that information is adequately protected from unauthorized access and modification.
