About the Role

As a Senior Advisor - Investment Fund and ETF Taxation at National Bank, you will act as a reference expert in a complex and evolving sector. You will contribute to strategic initiatives impacting clients, partners, and the organization by guiding decision-making and ensuring best practices in taxation, accounting, and securities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a consulting expert to internal and external partners on tax, accounting, and regulatory issues related to investment funds.
  • Analyze complex situations and formulate strategic recommendations to optimize results for clients and the organization.
  • Provide functional leadership to the team by sharing knowledge, supporting skill development, and contributing to the evolution of best practices.
  • Coordinate activities related to distribution calculation and tax return preparation for investment funds, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and evolve a robust control framework to ensure the integrity of financial data and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring of tax, accounting, and regulatory changes and recommend necessary adaptations to processes and deliverables.
  • Lead or contribute to strategic and cross-functional projects, engaging stakeholders and ensuring objectives are met.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, automation, and process optimization.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Taxation, completed or in progress, or equivalent combination of education and seven to ten years of relevant experience.
  • CPA designation.
  • In-depth expertise in investment funds, trusts, and their taxation.
  • Advanced knowledge of investment fund distributions.
  • Significant experience in preparing tax returns for trusts and corporations.
  • Excellent knowledge of tax, accounting, and regulatory standards applicable to investment funds.
  • Recognized experience in coaching, mentoring, and skills development.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and mobilize diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating or participating in large-scale or transformation projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and comfort with data analysis tools.
  • Excellent ability to manage priorities and thrive in a complex and changing environment.
  • English language proficiency.
