About the Role

This position requires coordination and participation in a variety of clerical, secretarial, and supportive patient care activities to assist medical professional personnel in the effective implementation of patient care and provider services in the clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and participates in patient care activities, including vital signs, mini-mental assessments, assisting with diagnostic procedures, and records data for medical records.
  • Coordinates scheduling with the medical secretary and assists with modifying provider schedules as needed.
  • Responds to patient inquiries, providing accurate and detailed information.
  • Responds to referring physician's office inquiries.
  • Answers and directs clinical calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Works with patients and office personnel to coordinate care.
  • Enters data into EMR, including prescriptions, diagnostic testing, and outside procedures.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments for office visits and internal/external diagnostic testing.
  • Serves as a liaison to patients and other internal/external contacts.
  • Makes follow-up phone calls to patients as directed.
  • Performs clerical duties efficiently.
  • Escorts and/or transports patients to treatment rooms and other clinic locations.
  • Refers patients to appropriate clinical resources for healthcare questions and to personnel for billing and financial support.
  • Interacts calmly, respectfully, and in a friendly manner with physicians and healthcare professionals.
  • Reports errors or problems to ensure appropriate action for patient care.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for patient safety and comfort.
  • Complies with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer focus, infection control, safety, and other policies.
  • Organizes work area and clinic, keeping the provider on schedule and prioritizing tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
