About the Role

The Texas Freedom Network (TFN) seeks a part-time Organizing Associate based in Austin, Texas. TFN is a statewide non-partisan, grassroots organization that is building an informed and effective movement working toward equality and social justice. The Organizing Associate will focus on basebuilding around TFN’s issue priorities, including public education, religious freedom, voting rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and reproductive justice. The main responsibilities of the Organizing Associate will include assisting the organizing team with mobilizing and educating grassroots activists, and supporting efforts to build relationships with key partners and stakeholders statewide. The Organizing Associate should be deeply committed to promoting civil liberties for all Texans. The Organizing Associate will report to the Organizing Director.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, mobilizing, and educating grassroots volunteers and activists all across Texas.
  • Assist with campaign issue research, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Assist with building and maintaining an active base of community advocates who can be mobilized to participate in meetings, rallies, and hearings.
  • Support relationship building with key partners and stakeholders statewide.
  • Assist the organizing team in day to day programmatic needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment is crucial.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Texas electoral dynamics and legislative process.
  • Previous volunteer advocacy experience.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to get to and from the TFN office and Capitol complex.
  • May work outside of normal business hours, including evenings or weekends.
