About the Role
The SchoolsPlus Mental Health clinician provides services directly in community schools within designated SchoolsPlus schools. This role is part of a collaborative, student-focused model where partners work together to educate and provide service to the child and their family, with the school as the center of service. The clinician is a member of a school-based multidisciplinary team, participating in the planning, development, provision, and evaluation of mental health services for children and adolescents within the school population, focusing on early identification and intervention. The clinician also acts as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services.

Requirements
- Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy)
- Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
- Two years of related clinical experience required (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention and discharge planning)
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM V) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence-informed therapies based on care plan to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information, and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living with mental illness and addiction.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment/intervention
- Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- High level of written/oral/interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Resume must be up to date and include all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.
