About the Role
Improve patient health through an innovative, patient-focused culture dedicated to making a difference in the communities served.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, coordinate, and manage administrative fiscal management and accounting functions for Valley Health Services, Inc. (VHS) and Valley Residential Services, Inc. (VRS).
- Supervise Business Office personnel.
- Oversee and coordinate financial administration, cash flow planning, general accounting, patient business services, and statistical reporting.
- Devise and oversee accounting systems and procedures for accurate financial records.
- Establish and refine data processing systems for fiscal and statistical functions.
- Gather budget data and prepare budgets based on expenditures and revenues.
- Oversee and direct the compilation of monthly and year-end financial data and prepare reports.
- Make recommendations to administration for reducing operating costs and increasing revenues.
- Oversee the preparation of cost reimbursement records and complete cost reports.
- Prepare detailed monthly and annual financial statements.
- Monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with procedures.
- Review third-party payer reimbursement rates.
- Prepare and file rate appeals with governmental and third-party agencies.
- Oversee the operation of the 401K Pension Plan and assist with Form 5500 preparation and annual audit coordination.
- Prepare year-end worksheets to expedite audits.
- Research, recommend, and implement computer hardware and software.
- Prepare NYS Sales and use tax.
- Prepare quarterly Nurse Aide Training reimbursement vouchers.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Perform monthly AR/General Ledger to Trial Balance detail reconciliation.
- Prepare quarterly Medicare Credit Balance Reports.
- Complete probationary and annual performance evaluations for supervised employees.
- Review and initial internal audits prepared by the Accountant.
- Prepare flex plan reports and reconcile the plan monthly.
- Distribute, compile, organize, and maintain quarterly time study data.
- Attend Department Head meetings and participate in senior management functions, including budget formulation and policy development.
- Prepare monthly and YTD Patient Days reconciliations.
- File sales tax refunds on gasoline purchases quarterly.
- Attend all required in-services and follow all department and facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care and employee information and follow HIPAA and HIV regulations.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of modern accounting, fiscal, and business administrative practices, procedures, and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of budgetary methods, cost accounting systems, and practices.
- Hands-on knowledge of office terminology.
- Ability to analyze methods and procedures of work.
- Ability to devise economical and efficient systems for accomplishing work.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to prepare and present complex written and oral reports.
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, and walking.
- Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, repetitive motion, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception).
- Constant seeing/monitor/computer use.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college.
Salary/Compensations
- USD $81,140.80/Yr. - USD $116,625.60/Yr.
