About the Role
BDO's Credits & Incentives team helps clients access funding through tax credits, government incentives, and grants. The Senior Manager will lead client engagements focused on Clean Economy tax credits and capital asset or manufacturing tax credits, identifying qualified expenditures to maximize available tax credits.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support Credits & Incentives client engagements, with a focus on the Clean Economy tax credits and capital asset or manufacturing tax credits.
- Review and analyze capital asset acquisitions, construction, and installation costs to identify qualified expenditures to maximize available tax credits.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and effectively communicating technical matters, recommendations, and engagement priorities.
- Effectively communicate with clients and team members regarding engagement progress, technical matters, and project priorities.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members while fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
- Contribute to the continued growth and advancement of the Credits & Incentives practice.
- Ensure work is complete, accurate, and appropriately reviewed by maintaining the necessary technical knowledge and commitment to professional development.
- Recommend and implement quality, process, and efficiency improvements across client engagements.
- Actively engage with people leaders to support employee performance and development while identifying and attracting top talent.
- Contribute to the firm's revenue growth by identifying opportunities to introduce clients to other BDO service lines and bring new clients to the firm.
Requirements
- Have an engineering, science or technology degree and experience in a related field of energy, infrastructure, manufacturing or real estate.
- Recognized subject matter expert and leader with 5+ years of experience supporting capital asset reviews, tax credit claims, grants filings, or related advisory services.
- Possess a strong understanding of the Clean Economy Tax Credit programs, manufacturing capital asset programs and the broader tax credit landscape in Canada.
- Experience leading client engagements and coaching high-performing teams.
- Value teamwork, client service, and delivering high-quality work.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
