About the Role

The Operations Leader will assist the Inventory Manager in managing daily inventory operations across all UHN sites. This role facilitates program development and quality improvement activities, exemplifying UHN’s values. It offers a chance to work with multidisciplinary healthcare leaders and have oversight of inventory operations with direct reports, ensuring seamless access to life-saving medications for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Pharmacy Site Operations Manager with all aspects of operations related to pharmacy
  • Implementing pharmacy inventory projects and coordinating staff training in operations
  • Providing direct and/or functional supervision of staff including human resources management
  • Maintaining Policies and Procedures for new system upgrades
  • Providing expertise in pharmacy inventory contractual obligations to maximize efficiency of the hospital’s drug procurement and distribution system
  • Involvement in various committees; Pharmacy Quality, Formulary, All-site operations meetings and Safe Medication Practice
  • Performing other cross-functional duties consistent with the job classification as assigned

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from a recognized program required
  • Certificate of competency from the pharmacy Examination Board of Canada required
  • Active Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
  • At minimum 4-5 years practical pharmacy experience and related leadership experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to manage heavy workload with frequent changes
  • Ability to plan and coordinate various projects and programs
  • Knowledge of Workspace Hazardous Material Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) requirements, Body Substance Precautions, confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Accounting process
  • Completion of an advanced degree (Masters or equivalent) or Doctor of Pharmacy degree highly preferred
  • Pharmacy experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Pharmacy Residency an asset
  • Membership in the Ontario Pharmacists' Association, Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists and/or other professional societies an asset
  • Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, to be eligible for consideration.
