About the Role
HP Hood is seeking a Standby Operator to cover areas of greatest need within their production lines. This role involves operating filling and packaging equipment, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining plant safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate filling and packaging equipment in a production line setting.
- Operate equipment in key areas of dairy processing.
- Ensure compliance with New York State regulations.
- Adhere to all plant GMP and sanitation policies.
- Comply with all OSHA regulations and plant safety policies.
- Follow all guidelines and rules associated with local unions CBA.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment.
- Perform general plant cleaning and grounds maintenance.
- Maintain and complete required environmental and production paperwork.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with external agencies.
- Support SQF by completing job tasks and maintaining a sanitary work area.
- Maintain positive relationships with plant supervisors and managers.
- Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
- Respond and perform assigned duties in a timely manner.
- Perform assigned duties following 'GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES'.
- Attend Daily Production Meeting if required.
- Maintain records and logs as required.
- Support change over and start up of assigned area.
- Attend all mandatory training.
Requirements
- GED or High School Diploma required.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Excellent troubleshoot experience.
- Ability to work well with people.
- Communication skills are a must.
- Must be a multi-tasked individual.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work shifts that vary weekly with potentially non-consecutive days off.
- Must be able to stand for long periods (8+ hours).
- Must be able to walk for long periods.
- Must be able to bend frequently.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs frequently.
- Must be able to carry 40-60 lbs frequently over distance.
- Must be able to push/pull under 75 lbs without assistance frequently.
