About the Role
The Superintendent I (Area) role at Skanska USA Building is responsible for leading field operations within assigned project areas, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, profitably, and in alignment with contract documents, design, budget, and schedule. This position directly supervises field labor and Assistant Superintendents, with a strong emphasis on on-site presence, coordination, and real-time leadership in production, safety, and supervisory meetings.
Responsibilities
- Leading field operations within assigned project areas
- Ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and profitably
- Aligning work with contract documents, design, budget, and schedule
- Directly supervising field labor and Assistant Superintendents
- Maintaining on-site presence, coordination, and real-time leadership
- Conducting production, safety, and supervisory meetings
- Coaching others
- Maintaining work-site harmony
- Supporting business development in the field
- Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
Requirements
- Solid construction management background
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
- Relevant leadership experience on fit-out projects or specific areas of larger building projects
- Safety and QAQC leadership experience
- Subcontractor oversight experience
- Schedule update experience
- Change order and ticket management experience
- Experience interpreting plans and specifications
- Competency in contract management
- Competency in risk management
- Competency in logistics
- Competency in quality control
- Competency in project cost management
- Competency in schedule ownership
- 5+ Years of proven construction experience
- 2+ years of being a Safety and QAQC Cultural Champion
- 2+ years Successful leadership of smaller fit out projects or an area of a larger building project
- 2+ years experience with change order and ticket management
- 2+ years experience with subcontractor oversite
- 2+ years experience with schedule updates and look ahead schedules
- 2+ years experience with reading and delivering on plans and specs
