About the Role
Hormel Foods is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer or Senior Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for enterprise virtualization and storage platforms, helping design, implement, and support the infrastructure that powers critical business operations across the company. The ideal candidate will bring strong systems engineering experience, a passion for technology, and a desire to continuously improve enterprise infrastructure. This position offers opportunities to contribute to strategic initiatives, collaborate across technology teams, and influence the future direction of our virtualization, storage, and data center environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize enterprise virtualization, compute and storage platforms, including VMware
- Manage physical servers, storage systems, SAN fabrics, zoning, multipathing, and replication
- Maintain secure, stable, highly available infrastructure aligned with standards and vendor practices
- Plan platform lifecycles, capacity, performance, upgrades, hardware refreshes, and technology roadmaps
- Develop and test data protection, business continuity, replication, and disaster recovery solutions
- Troubleshoot complex virtualization, storage, compute, and performance issues
- Evaluate and implement technologies that improve reliability, performance, security, and efficiency
- Document and follow operational procedures, security controls, and change management practices
- Lead technical support and collaborate with infrastructure teams, vendors, and strategic partners
- Support infrastructure planning, including operating and capital budget forecasts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, with relevant enterprise infrastructure experience; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
- 7+ years of experience designing, deploying, supporting, and engineering enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Hands-on experience administering VMware enterprise virtualization technologies, including VCF, vCenter, NSX, SRM, vSphere Replication, and the Aria operations, logging, and network monitoring tools.
- Experience administering enterprise physical and virtual server environments, storage platforms, and SANs, including performance monitoring, capacity planning, replication, and disaster recovery.
- Knowledge of storage networking, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, multipathing, zoning, and replication.
- Proven ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated initiative, project leadership, and the ability to collaborate and build productive relationships.
- Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing business needs.
- Ability to provide after-hours support and participate in maintenance or upgrade activities, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
