About the Role
EggAI is seeking a senior software engineer with deep, hands-on experience in building and operating production systems. The role involves working in a small team on client projects at the forefront of AI in the enterprise, implementing the company's AI strategy. AI experience, particularly with LLM-powered and agentic systems, is required.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate production systems end-to-end, including post-production ownership.
- Lead architecture discussions for system components with team support.
- Take ownership of ambiguous problems, find solutions, and communicate issues.
- Collaborate directly with client engineers and internal project management.
- Participate in standard team rhythms: daily standups, planning, retrospectives, and code/design reviews.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining production systems.
- Experience with clean, testable code, sound API and data modeling, and effective abstraction.
- Production AI experience, including building and operating GenAI systems with real users.
- Experience owning code in production (deployment, monitoring, on-call) and debugging live systems.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals (services, queues, retries, idempotency, failure modes, third-party API integration).
- Proficiency in database schema design, query performance, and migrations.
- Demonstrated operational rigor: automated testing, instrumentation, CI/CD, and incremental shipping.
- Client-facing ability, with experience delivering against business requirements and communicating technical concepts to non-engineers.
- Proficiency in Python (primary) and TypeScript/JavaScript, or willingness to work in Python with experience in Go, Java, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization.
