About the Role

As an HR apprentice, you will work as part of a small HR team, providing support to the HR Manager and wider HR team to ensure the smooth running of the HR Department. You will gain exposure to all aspects of HR and receive training support.

Responsibilities

  • Support the onboarding of new hires into BambooHR, including setting up new starters on Avantus, ExpenseIn and Astute.
  • Issue employment offers and new starter packs, monitoring onboarding progress and ensuring new starter information is accurately recorded on employee profiles.
  • Complete and record right-to-work checks and ensure all employees are legally entitled to work in the UK.
  • Conduct reference checks and ensure these are in place for every employee.
  • Process relevant BambooHR offboarding tasks.
  • Respond to external requests for employment references.
  • Distribute P45, P11d and P60 documentation to employees in a timely manner.
  • Administer pensions via the Company’s benefit portal (Avantus) and internally via payroll.
  • Collate new starter documentation, including P45s, starter checklists and employee appointment forms, and upload records accurately to BambooHR profiles.
  • Update the Company’s HRIS (BambooHR) with starters, leavers and any changes to employees’ terms and conditions of employment.
  • Update BambooHR with monthly pension changes and new enrolments to various benefits.
  • Liaise with candidates, agencies and hiring managers to schedule interviews.
  • Assist in managing the careers inbox, including processing referrals and recruitment-related queries.
  • Support the organization and scheduling of learning activities, workshops and programmes.
  • Complete e-learning modules, proactively chase outstanding training and escalate non-completion to the Talent Development Manager where required.
  • Support the Talent Development Manager in preparing training materials, joining instructions and learner communications.
  • Support HR initiatives throughout the people cycle.
  • Electronically file employee records and miscellaneous correspondence.

Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above.

Skills

  • Good general knowledge of the Microsoft suite.
  • Excellent communication skills across all forums.
  • Ability to be discreet and organize and prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy with good attention to detail.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude.
