About the Role
The Manager, Electrical Engineering is responsible for the technical workstreams of projects from initial development through handover to construction teams, with a strong emphasis on High Voltage Interconnection (HVI) and interconnection application processes. This role involves technical tender preparation, vendor management, and collaboration with global internal Engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage engineering activities, including tender preparation, contractor selection, and management.
- Coordinate interaction with internal global technical teams.
- Oversee the development of engineering designs, ensuring compliance with local regulations and market practices.
- Manage the interconnection application process with the Transmission System Operator (TSO).
- Provide technical support to country teams during business development opportunities.
- Create project schedules for RFPs and project development to ensure timely and budgeted completion.
- Provide specialized technical support during tender processes, including reviewing HVI supporting documents and single line diagrams.
- Ensure Capital Expenditure (Capex) optimization throughout project development to maximize profitability.
- Coordinate key studies for integration into engineering projects.
- Establish supplier relationships and support the APAC procurement team in bid/award processes for services.
- Ensure lessons learned from construction are applied to ongoing projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years in design projects focused on PV Plants, substations, and high voltage lines.
- Experience in the interconnection application process with TSO in Japan.
- Experience in managing engineering projects, including external contractors.
- Renewable energy or Power utility experience preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable practices and regulations.
- Experience with Substation Commissioning and tests.
- Knowledge of photovoltaic system design and its components.
- Detailed understanding of HVI components and SLDs.
- Strong communication, project management, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in English and Japanese.
