About the Role

Join NESA's ICT team and play a critical role in protecting the systems, information, and services that support education across New South Wales. Contribute to the ongoing maturity of NESA's cyber security program through security assurance activities, incident management, risk monitoring, and the development of information security policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support cyber security assurance activities to strengthen security controls, compliance, and organizational resilience.
  • Monitor, analyze, and research cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, and emerging risks across the organization.
  • Conduct security reviews and audits to assess compliance with security standards, policies, and frameworks.
  • Investigate and report cyber security risks, incidents, vulnerabilities, and potential breaches, while coordinating remediation activities with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with managed service providers, vendors, and business stakeholders to monitor security trends, identify vulnerabilities, and improve security controls.
  • Provide cyber security advice, guidance, and awareness initiatives that support a strong security culture across the organization.
  • Develop, review, and maintain information security policies, procedures, and related governance documentation.
  • Support the ongoing management and maturity of NESA's cyber security program, information assets, and security assessment processes.

Requirements

  • Experience coordinating security assurance, audit, compliance, or governance activities within a cyber security environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, or implementing cyber security policies, standards, procedures, or related governance documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify, assess, and communicate cyber security risks, vulnerabilities, and remediation strategies.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and delivering quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment with changing demands.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders and communicate complex security concepts clearly and practically.
  • Commitment to maintaining contemporary knowledge of cyber security threats, technologies, frameworks, and industry practices.
  • Experience in working with Monitoring and detection tools, SIEM, and application whitelisting.
  • Experience in an information technology role, preferably working in a cyber-security environment.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management, malware, network analysis, security tools, ISO27001, Essential 8, and NSW Cyber Security Policy.
  • A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance for paid employment is required before commencing in this role.
  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident for ongoing roles.
