About the Role
As a Family Law Career Paralegal, you’ll provide high-level support to lawyers across a varied caseload of parenting, property and related family law matters. You’ll take ownership of key file-management and drafting tasks, communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders, and help matters progress efficiently from initial instructions through to resolution. This is an opportunity for an experienced paralegal who wants to deepen their family law expertise and build a long-term career in a specialist practice.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage correspondence, drafting at all levels, briefs, disclosure documents, court forms and other legal documents.
- Manage files, deadlines, appointments and court-related requirements with accuracy and initiative.
- Liaise with clients, counsel, experts, courts and other external stakeholders.
- Assist with trial preparation, including chronologies, briefs and document collation.
- Support lawyers with matter progression, legal research and day-to-day case management.
- Deliver empathetic, responsive and professional client service in sensitive circumstances.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a career paralegal or senior paralegal, with substantial experience in Australian family law.
- Strong drafting, file-management, organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience preparing court documents, briefs, disclosure material and correspondence.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work proactively with limited supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and empathetic approach to clients.
- Sound judgment, attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice.
- LEAP experience is highly regarded but not essential.
