About the Role

Sr. Investment Directors on the Venture Capital team source, evaluate, and underwrite venture capital investment managers. This role involves primary contact with venture capital managers, ongoing monitoring and evaluation of existing managers, and supporting junior team members. The position also requires collaboration across the private investments team to track industry trends, contribute to research, and support client-facing colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investment assessments of venture capital managers and markets through qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
  • Utilize analytical frameworks to assess venture funds based on organization, strategy, performance, terms, and portfolio.
  • Lead meetings with general partners, management teams, and founders to evaluate investment managers.
  • Lead reference calls with industry participants regarding investment opportunities and market views.
  • Produce written assessments and recommendations for clients and colleagues, including detailed diligence reports and market research.
  • Monitor market trends, fundraising, and investment activity, contributing to the firm’s thought leadership in venture capital.
  • Serve as a resource to colleagues and clients for information on venture capital opportunities and markets.
  • Prepare materials for and participate in firm-wide meetings to discuss manager meetings and investment opportunities.
  • Represent the firm at manager meetings, industry events, and client meetings.
  • Contribute to secondaries and co-investment evaluations.
  • Support the development of junior team members through training, collaboration, and apprenticeship.

Requirements

  • 10-12 years of relevant investment experience, with familiarity with venture capital, growth equity, and broader private investments.
  • Experience gained through work at a large institutional investor, venture capital or growth equity firm, or investment advisory firm.
  • Demonstrated understanding of venture capital and its role in a diversified institutional portfolio.
  • Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience performing relevant financial analysis for private investments.
  • Experience with limited partnership agreements and fund legal terms is ideal.
  • Ability and willingness to engage directly with managers, founders, executives, and references.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests while ensuring integrity, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Ability to work independently and under time constraints.
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
