About the Role

Operates computerized weighscales to gather data, issue tickets, and collect fees for vehicles delivering solid waste or recycling materials. Ensures compliance with site regulations and validates loads.

Responsibilities

  • Operates computerized weighscales and related equipment to gather data, issue tickets, and collect fees.
  • Ensures all vehicles comply with site regulations.
  • Validates loads through Radiation Detection equipment and reports incidents.
  • Establishes customer identity, gathers and enters load-specific information.
  • Verifies receipt information, validates deposit amounts, processes payments, and reconciles point-of-sale terminals.
  • Responds to customer inquiries regarding operating procedures, regulations, and fees.
  • Obtains signatures on receipts and issues paperwork for border crossing.
  • Totals, balances, and verifies cash/charge intake and loads with computer data.
  • Completes daily activity reports and financial summaries.
  • Validates hospital waste letters and marks Dump Authorization Tickets.
  • Opens and closes scale-house, sets alarms, and cleans weighscale equipment.

Requirements

  • Considerable experience in a front-line customer service environment.
  • Considerable experience handling cash, debit, and credit card transactions and point-of-sale terminals.
  • Experience performing basic mathematical calculations to determine tipping fees and minimum deposits.
  • Experience performing high volume data entry with strong computer skills in CompuWeigh (CW) and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to work shifts, including afternoons, midnights, and weekends.
  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple urgent and time-sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to sit and operate a computerized weighscale system for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate computerized weighscale, radiation detection devices, and radio frequency identification system.
  • Strong administrative, financial, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with staff and customers.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of service to customers.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under time constraints in high-pressure situations.
