About the Role
As a member of the closing group, you will be responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual closing operations and financial reporting. You will support accurate and timely accounting and financial information by collaborating with relevant departments, and contribute to maintaining a sound management foundation through operational efficiency improvements and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing operations and support timely financial reporting.
- Perform journal entries, reconcile account balances, and prepare various closing documents.
- Aggregate and analyze financial data to support the creation of closing reports and management reports.
- Collect and organize information necessary for preparing financial statements and disclosure documents.
- Ensure accounting treatments comply with accounting standards, laws, and internal regulations.
- Prepare materials and respond to inquiries for external and internal audits.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in business, HR, and IT departments to gather and confirm information for closing operations.
- Participate in improvement activities for standardizing work procedures and optimizing the closing process.
- Implement internal controls for assigned tasks and contribute to enhancing the reliability of financial reporting.
Requirements
- Practical experience in accounting or finance.
- Basic knowledge and experience in monthly closing operations.
- Experience using accounting systems.
- Experience in data aggregation and analysis using Microsoft Excel.
- Basic knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping.
- Ability to perform tasks with a focus on accuracy.
- Communication skills to work smoothly with stakeholders.
- Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks systematically.
- Attitude to identify problems and work towards improvement.
Skills
- Closing operations or financial reporting experience
- Accounting experience in an insurance or financial institution
- Knowledge of IFRS or Japanese accounting standards
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Experience using data analysis tools such as Power BI
- Experience participating in business improvement/efficiency projects
- Bookkeeping proficiency (e.g., Nissho Boki Level 2 or equivalent)
- Experience with English email correspondence and document comprehension
