About the Role
The Government Affairs Head for SAP in Japan is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and executing strategies for government and regulatory engagements in Japan, aligning with SAP's business objectives. The role involves anticipating and engaging on policies and regulations impacting SAP operations, identifying beneficial political and social developments, and amplifying the SAP brand.
Responsibilities
- Engage strategically with Governments in Japan on key initiatives, programs, and projects to ensure proactive coverage for SAP as a trusted technology partner.
- Maintain long-term relationships with key Government stakeholders, including strategic engagements for SAP senior management on Government initiatives.
- Engage, lead, and manage relationships with industry associations to present SAP's point of view.
- Sensitize internal stakeholders on relevant ethics rules, legislative, and regulatory processes in Japan and other countries.
- Provide strategic insights to sales teams on the status and progress of key Government programs and potential business opportunities.
- Advise internal teams on navigating governmental structures and policy impacts throughout go-to-market cycles and business operations.
- Coordinate with internal organizations to shape and execute effective development strategies within the public sector.
- Act as a liaison with government entities during crises to ensure SAP's interests are represented and protected.
- Maintain strategic relationships with key influencers and Government nodal agencies.
- Participate in program committees as an industry representative.
- Develop and maintain a network within the IT and Consulting industry to address common interest areas.
- Engage continuously, proactively, and strategically on policy issues with Governments in the region to ensure a favorable regulatory environment for SAP.
- Prepare policy papers, respond to policy statements, and develop points of view on key policies including IT, taxation, trade, and IPR.
- Work with industry associations on larger industry issues.
- Create knowledge content on policies based on global experiences and lead thought leadership engagements with stakeholders.
- Represent SAP on key consultative groups on policy issues.
- Collaborate on SAP's partnerships with the Government on areas like sustainability, digital skilling, innovation, and cyber-physical systems.
- Amplify SAP initiatives on Government platforms.
Requirements
- Enterprise-level expertise spanning government affairs strategy, public policy, political risk governance, crisis communications, and the design of scalable stakeholder engagement frameworks.
- Define SAP's government affairs strategy in Japan, establishing governance standards and engagement frameworks.
- Counsel SAP Japan senior leadership on political risk.
- Lead strategic policy advocacy.
- Represent SAP at different levels of government.
